Overview & Highlights

Nestled along the serene Henderson Harbor in New York, GillHouse Restaurant & Inn offers an unforgettably authentic dining experience that expertly blends rustic charm with culinary finesse. As a beacon of Italian-inspired fare with a vibrant local twist, this inviting restaurant specializes in heartwarming classics and innovative flatbread pizzas that are as visually enticing as they are delicious.

The menu here is thoughtfully curated to satisfy a variety of cravings. Start your meal with one of their artisan flatbreads—each pizza boasts a perfect crust and fresh toppings. The Chicken Wing Pizza, adorned with crisp celery, tender chicken, and a tangy hot sauce balanced by creamy blue cheese, delivers a thrilling burst of bold flavors. If you prefer a more traditional yet lively option, the Harbor Deluxe Pizza with savory sausage, sweet red peppers, and caramelized onions is equally delightful. For those who love to customize, the Build Your Own Pizza option invites you to create comfort on a plate with homemade tomato and basil sauce crowned with mozzarella.

The Italian Specialties section elevates the meal with options like Rigatoni Romano, where tender rigatoni pasta mingles with broccoli and mushrooms in a luscious Alfredo sauce. Eggplant Parmesan showcases breaded eggplant slices, bubbling with melted mozzarella and fresh tomato basil sauce, paired perfectly with a side of pasta, embodying cozy, home-style dining at its best. For seafood enthusiasts, the Clam Linguini is a standout, offering fresh clams sautéed with garlic and served over linguini in your choice of white wine or tomato basil sauce—a dish that sings with ocean freshness. Their homemade lasagna, layered with rich bolognese, is hearty and deeply satisfying.

Accompany your meal with thoughtfully prepared sides such as crispy French fries, golden tater tots, or perfectly battered onion rings. For lighter touches, the daily vegetable special or creamy cottage cheese provide balance. The team at GillHouse seems to understand the nuances that make a meal memorable, right down to providing flavorful coleslaw that carries just the right bite.

The ambience at GillHouse Restaurant & Inn is as delicious as the food itself. Diners can choose to sit comfortably indoors where the atmosphere is warm and inviting, on the scenic deck, or even on the patio and lawn areas—perfect spots to enjoy the fresh air and stunning views of Henderson Harbor and Lake Ontario. I ate at this restaurant on June 30 2025. Everything was open and functioning. The people were very friendly, the dining area was very inviting and clean. The bathroom was immaculate. You can eat indoor on the deck ore on the patio and lawn. You can even being your swim suit and swim. The view is amazing very peaceful. They were very accommodating to my 2 dogs and made them both cheeseburgers and allowed me to feed them on the lawn. Hidden Gem.

Steak was delicious, as well as sides. Greens appetizer was very tasty but could have been hotter. Was very crowded for a Thurs evening which is a good indicator of how good food is. There were 6 in our party and it was crowded as well, but there was ample waitstaff so response to different requests, ie, real milk for coffee was never responded to by our waitress. Had to flag down another server to finally get milk, which by that time, coffee was cold.

An amazing find. Luckily, we went @ the right time and were able to get a table. A few cocktails, flatbread pizza, chicken riggies, bacon and blue burger with fries, and let’s not forget about the dessert. Oh, dessert … carrot cake and brownie cheesecake. The service was over the top. The friendly staff was not only helpful in our selections, but anyone who walked by cleared our empty dishes. A true team effort and a must try.

Hotel has a warm inviting atmosphere. Our first floor room had a private deck overlooking an awesome view of Henderson Harbor, Lake Ontario with sunsets. Hotel restaurant & tavern were very busy for a Monday & Tuesday during our stay, & the food & service were superb. The campus was well landscaped & parking was fine. My husband lodged here during fishing trips about 25 years ago, so this current stay brought back lots of memories. John & Liz Green

The dining room is small and on a Saturday night it was very loud; it felt like we had to yell the whole dinner. It was also extremely hot and so closely seated that there was only one path through the tables. My broiled fish dinner was good but could have been better seasoned and the waitress was new and forgot to bring bread and butter. I expected more from the food based on the web site. The dining room was ridiculously hot, the food was ok but not great and prices a bit high. I plan to go back and try it again on a cooler day and perhaps a weekday lunch. Friends have said such good things I have to try it again. 2025 Sept Had 2 return visits and I am happy to say the food was tasty, the service was attentive and the environment was lovely. This is a place I would take family when they are in town, but also where I would go for a girls night out. Hubby loved the eggplant!

I hosted an important family event at the Gill House. The owner sat down with me to plan my event ahead of time. The staff provided excellent service leading up to the event. The renovation of the historic building is outstanding: a tasteful nod to history with modern room appointments and details. The event room is bright and spacious. The adjacent sitting room is comfortable and welcoming. The food came out right on time and our server, Lindsey, was very attentive. The food was plentiful and tasty. The events menu offerings were unique and wide ranging in price and taste. We were allowed to provide our own dessert. Since our guests were traveling from far away, it meant so much that the atmosphere was welcoming. We loved our experience at the Gill House.

So great to have this place open again! Friendly staff, great chef, and atmosphere is really nice on the harbor. We got a tour of the newly remodeled rooms. Highly recommend the steamers!! Eaten there multiple times now. Broiled haddock, meatballs sandwich, rigs with broccoli and mushrooms to name a few. Food is nicely prepared. Love the butter served with the bread. And salad dressing is great. Open on Mondays!! Which is great, but it was slammed when I got there at 7pm! Felt pretty invisible while I sat at the bar until someone finally noticed I was there. The one bartender literally thought I had already ate, which tells me they aren’t dialed in to their customers or even who they are interacting with at the bar. As a guy who eats alone a lot, connection with the bartender and/or servers is so important to me, especially being I was in the business for years. It’s all about connection. I remembered all the peoples names that waited on me, but don’t think they remembered me, even after being in 4-5 times in the past month. When the bartender asked me if I was having a special because they had never seen that, and I had to enlighten them that it’s an actual menu item. Makes me feel like service needs to know their product. I worked in a restaurant in Boston where we were literally quizzed on all items on the menu and we needed to know ingredients in every dish. This way you are knowledgeable in what you are selling. This advice I give in hopes this area improves . Love the whole place, just think customer service needs to be dialed in and the focus.

Best table in house!! Porch seating overlooking Lake Ontario and Henderson Harbor. Excellent food and service. Small menu but exquisitely prepared. I had seared sea scallops on pasta with tomato basil sauce, salad and French onion soup. All delicious. My friend had Lake perch served exquisitely as small pieces with an unusual but delicious broccoli, salad and superb New England Clam Chowder. The ambience was simple but totally delightful. We were there around 3 pm on a Friday.
